Perigee moon

Photo of the perigee moon seen from NSW south coast May 6 2012

The moon orbits the earth on an elliptical path.  One night a year, at its closest, it appears bigger and brighter than normal.  Here’s how it looked from my place on Sunday night.  Good inspiration for a quilt.
